Philosophy students rule the GRE

The long-established trend of philosophy students being the top scorers on the GRE has continued. Here's a link reporting most recent data from ETS.

The executive summary:

  • Philosophy students averaged 153 on the quantitative portion, second only to Economics students (159) among humanities and social science fields and tying them with Biology students.
  • At 160, Philosophy students had the highest verbal reasoning scores (higher than Literature!).
  • Philosophy's 4.4 score in Analytical Writing puts it at the top.
Well, OK, physics students do well too: tied for the top in quantitative, best among the sciences in verbal reasoning and analytical writing.

Let the world — especially prospective students — know!
